The Psalms all glorify God. The Church worships God. The Holy Fathers
continually praise God. The Scriptures are the word of God. Put altogether
into a daily habit of reading and spiritual reflection, they can lead our souls
into a God-pleasing life, ready for eternal bliss with God.
We meet Christ and walk with Him through highlights of the 150 Psalms, with the Holy Fathers as spokesmen. From the vast library currently available, the best of the Fathers has been selected here, including many excerpts from Fathers of late antiquity, such as Saints John Chrysostom, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, Gregory of Nyssa, Athanasius and Cyril of Alexandria; later Fathers, such as Sts. Symeon the New Theologian, Maximus the Confessor, Gregory Palamas; plus 20th Century Fathers: Sts. Nikolai (Velimirovich) and Justin (Popovich). These, and many others, give us an understanding of the full spectrum of the Orthodox mind.
Relevant passages from the New Testament and illustrations are also added, as well as examples of the liturgical use of the Psalms by the Church, such as stichera (versicles) used for Vespers, Matins and Feast Days. Many detailed indexes are provided in the Appendix. Hard cover, 336 pages. Click for additional information and order form.

The
Series is designed to provide – in simple terms – a better
understanding of both the Bible and its connection with the richness of
our Orthodox liturgical services. It
also serves to introduce the laity to the Holy Fathers, beloved by the
Church for the profundity of their wisdom and their lucid Biblical
explanations.
